Bring your camera with you everywhere! We went up to the Blue Ridge Parkway in North Carolina Sunday evening for a workshop about taking sunset pictures, we almost didn’t make it! No, we didn’t have a scary experience on a curvy mountain road, we just saw too many things we wanted to stop and take pictures of!
Whitewater rafters, kayaks in the rapids, waterfalls, wildlife, scenic overlooks and interesting locations all tempted us, we even stopped once, but didn’t take our cameras out. It’s a good thing we didn’t, we would have missed the sunset.
Many times, I come around the corner to discover something incredible only to realize that I left my camera on the couch, or my tripod is still on the porch, and the opportunity is lost. If you are planning on going out on a photo safari, here are a few other things you should also take with you: 1) a flashlight for walking back to your car in the dark; 2) a jacket (it gets cool quickly when the sun sets); 3) water (you will be thirsty) and 4) food or snacks (there may be nowhere to eat on your way home). BTW, I have learned all these lessons the hard way.
Bring your family, bring your friends, stay in one of our Blue Ridge or Ellijay cabin rentals, and don’t forget to bring your camera!
