Brasstown Bald – My #1 thing to do on your stay in Blue Ridge
Somewhere I read that one of the top things to do in Blue Ridge, was to watch a sunset from the top of Brasstown Bald. One evening, the youngest boys and I were looking for something to do so we ran out.
This was one of my favorite photos. You should make time to watch a sunset too when you stay in your North Georgia Cabin Rental. Brasstown Bald is the highest elevation in Georgia, at 4,784 feet above sea level. The Blue Ridge Mountains begin near Blue Ridge and Ellijay. Since our first trip to Brasstown Bald, we have averaged at least 15-20 trips a year up here, I think we even went twice in one day, coming back to watch the sunset.
A great day trip to Brasstown Bald
One of our favorite adventures when we have friends in town is to take a half-day trip to Brasstown Bald, Helton Creek Falls, and Vogel State Park.
Depending on the time of day, we will change the order of our adventures. For day trips, we will start at Helton Creek Falls, and then go to Vogel State Park for a picnic lunch. After lunch, we will head to Brasstown Bald.
Later in the day, we will go to Helton Creek Falls first, and go straight to Brasstown Bald. Lately we like to barbecue up there and watch the sunset. In the back of the parking lot, there are grills and picnic tables where you can grill while you watch a sunset or moonrise. Yes, we have been up to Brasstown Bald in the winter too! If you are considering this, be extremely careful, it will be colder up there and there may be snow and ice on the roads!
