Vacation in North Georgia – go outside and play!

A few months ago, we had some guest leave early.  I called them while they were on the road home, to find out it there was a problem.  “No,” they said, “We decided to go home.  There is nothing to do up here this time of year.”  Months later, I am still stunned by that comment, after 4 years up here, I am still finding new things to see and do every day!  I haven’t yet “Done it all, seen it all.”I really worry about that, when people rent a cabin from us in Blue Ridge, will they be able to find everything that there is to do up in the Blue Ridge Mountains?  The real challenge for you in planning to vacation in North Georgia is not finding a cabin, it is finding out about everything there is to see and do while you are here.

Here is the first place you should go to:  the Fannin County Chamber of Commerce’s website:  Here you will discover all that is happening, and all that there is to do and explore while you are vacationing in the Blue Ridge area.  The have everything!  Such as:

  • Maps – driving tours, where the waterfalls are, hiking/biking and water access and much more
  • Dining information
  • Seasonal Guides
  • Activity Calendar
  • Arts & Entertainment
  • Festivals
  • Shopping and
  • Itineraries – print out your itineraries and all you have to do is wake up and take off on your day’s adventure!

Here at Sundance Cabin Rentals, we have also created some information pages for you, to help with your planning what you want to see and do while you are staying in one of our cabin rentals.  Here is where we think you should start:

  1. Things to do in North Georgia – here we have compiled a list of 50 things to do in North Georgia
  2. My top 12 things to do in Blue Ridge, GA – it started out as a top 10 list, and has grown.  I need to add another item to the list- ziplines and canopy tours
  3. The Mountains – plenty of articles about Brasstown Bald (Georgia’s highest elevation) hiking (including family friendly hikes), The Appalachian Trail,  The Aska Trails, and even Gorillas in the Mountains!
  4. The Rivers – stories about riding on the Blue Ridge Scenic Railway, hiking to Fall Branch Falls, whitewater rafting, flyfishing, the Toccoa Swinging Bridge and more.
  5. The Towndowntown Blue Ridge, the Blue Ridge Kiwanis Rodeo, and more!

This really doesn’t scratch the surface of all the things there are to do in North Georgia while you are on vacation, but it is a good start!  Please, don’t tell me that there was nothing to do in Blue Ridge, if I hear that, I may have to start therapy!

By the way, we hope the we can rent you a cabin in Blue Ridge while you are up here having fun too!
