How NOT to get snowed in to your cabin rental

sledding in Blue Ridge, GAWell, the weatherman said Blue Ridge, GA would get 1″ of snow today.  “Yeah right” we said, they have predicted snow so many times this winter and at the last minute, zip, nada, nothing.  So we watched it, hoping, but not really expecting anything.

Well, today we were surprised! Continue reading

Romancing the Mountains….After the Storm

panther-creek     Wow, what a day here in the Blue Ridge Mountains! Tornado sightings have been reported and tress and power lines are down everywhere. I guess I’m one of the fortunate ones who still have power. Most of the roads are closed as work crews struggle to clear the way, making way for school buses and folks to return home. Storms are all up and down the east coast as well. This might be the perfect time to plan your next mountain get-a-way Continue reading

After the Holidays…Snow and a Taste of Amish

The holidays have come and gone. As I was driving downtown today, I noticed a retailer taking down decorations outside her shop. My lights are still hanging outside my house, but my tree is beginning to dry out as I wonder when I will succumb to finally taking her down and disposing of her. All the hoopla that goes along with the holidays Continue reading

Christmas in the Mountains

430952_4752421335695_1467608135_nChristmas is my favorite time of year. When December rolls in I’m Martha Stewart and Betty Crocker all wrapped up in one. The decorations are out, ready to light up every room in my house like sweet frosting on a chocolate cake. This year was no different Continue reading

Vacation in North Georgia – go outside and play!

A few months ago, we had some guest leave early.  I called them while they were on the road home, to find out it there was a problem.  “No,” they said, “We decided to go home.  There is nothing to do up here this time of year.”  Months later, I am still stunned by that comment, after 4 years up here, I am still finding new things to see and do every day!  I haven’t yet “Done it all, seen it all.” Continue reading

Tis the Season in Blue Ridge….365 Days a Year!

154737_1626937760559_2175385_nToday was a busy day as I was out and about running errands in my beautiful little town. The one thing I noticed was that people seemed to be in good cheer. I would have to say that despite the hard times that many people have faced, the people in the town of Blue Ridge seem to be in the Christmas Spirit. You can see the spirit of Christmas on the happy faces of the local merchants and it doesn’t matter if you’ve never met- the folks here seem to exuberate happiness… not only during the holiday season, but 365 days a year! I guess that’s why I love the town of Blue Ridge- the people here are so friendly. Continue reading
